Key Stage 3 Classes

Key Stage 3 Group Classes

Our Key Stage 3 classes are aimed at students aged between 11 and 14 and we offer separate classes for English, Mathematics and Science.

We teach a three-year rolling curriculum, so that any student who joins in Year 7 and stays in the class until Year 9, won’t be repeating content.

Our classes have a maximum of 6 students in each group to allow for a great degree of differentiated learning.

In Key Stage 3 Science, we alternate between Biology, Physics and Chemistry each term and our lessons run throughout the half terms and holidays for students that would like to attend.

  • Biology - Inheritance & Evolution and Ecosystems & Interdependence.

  • Chemistry - Acids & Alkalis and Materials & Recycling

  • Physics - Motion & Pressure and Waves

In Key Stage 3 Mathematics, we focus on an area of mathematics per term.

Topics include:

  • Number - ordering, negative numbers, prime number decomposition, percentages and calculator skills

  • Algebra - algebraic expressions, simplifying, expanding and forming equations and geometric sequences

  • Ratio, Proportion & Rates of Change - sharing ratio, percentage increase and decrease and direct and indirect proportion

  • Geometry & Measures - perimeter and area of compound shapes, scale factor drawings, loci, segments, bearings and angles

  • Probability - tree diagrams, venn diagrams and their associated misconceptions

  • Statistics - scattergraphs, pie charts, coordinates in four quadrants and making predictions

In Key Stage 3 English, students study a range of fiction and non-fiction texts, as well as major literary works studied as part of the iGCSE and GCSE curriculum.
