Key Information:
Something spooky is stirring at Tutortastic this October!
Join us for four exciting Halloween-themed creative writing workshops, designed to inspire imaginations and bring storytelling to life! We’ll be exploring successful scary stories from Dracula to Coraline, to get us all into the spooky spirit!
From spine-chilling settings and mysterious mythical creatures to unexpected twists and enchanted objects, each workshop explores a different element of creative writing. Students will develop their descriptive vocabulary, experiment with figurative language and learn how to build atmosphere, suspense and engaging storylines.
Our workshops combine imaginative activities, creative challenges and guided writing tasks to help students become more confident and adventurous writers. We’ll also be playing spooky Blooket games at the end of each session to assess our vocabulary and knowledge of figurative language devices learned in our lessons.
Whether your child loves writing stories or needs a little encouragement to get their ideas onto paper, our small, friendly online sessions offer the perfect opportunity to develop their skills while having some spooky fun!
Our Four Spooky Workshops
Session 1: Where Shadows Lurk
Enter a world of abandoned mansions, misty graveyards and mysterious forests. Students will explore how writers use powerful vocabulary, sensory details and figurative language to create atmospheric settings that send shivers down the reader's spine.
Session 2: Beasts Beyond Belief
What strange creatures might be hiding in the shadows? From mythical monsters to entirely new supernatural beings, students will invent their own creatures, developing vivid descriptions and using imaginative language to bring them to life.
Session 3: Something Isn't Right...
A sudden noise. An unexplained disappearance. A door that should never have been opened. Students will discover how to build tension, create suspense and keep their readers guessing through clever sentence structures, pacing and unexpected twists.
Session 4: Objects of Dark Desire
What if an ordinary object held an extraordinary secret? A mysterious key, a cursed painting or a watch that turns back time... Students will explore how to transform everyday objects into the centre of an imaginative story, creating intriguing plots and unforgettable endings.
Students do not need to attend all workshops. All work well as individual lessons, no prior knowledge is required.
